How it all began in a park, over a beer

Our Story

“We don't just sell kitchens. We create spaces where people gather. It's the Istrian way of life, simply translated into a material that can last for years.”

It all started in a park, over a beer In the spring of 2020, the world stopped. As streets emptied and days lost their shape, two friends from Poreč met every evening in a park. For half an hour, over a beer. Nothing spectacular — just conversation. But from those conversations, Evoluta was born. Kristian and Danijel have known each other since childhood. Their paths have crossed throughout their lives: they played basketball in the same club, studied in the same city — Danijel civil engineering, Kristian economics — and then met again in Zagreb. And then, in 2016, they both returned home to Poreč with their families. Life brought them to the same place once more. This time, to create something together. The idea was as simple as it was bold: to develop new things. Danijel handles development and production, Kristian everything else. This division was backed by years of experience from both of them. Evoluta is a young company — but it wasn't built from scratch.

Two worlds merging

One of them spent his entire life building things that shouldn't exist. Danijel Močibob earned his doctorate in structural engineering in Switzerland, at one of the world's top universities, and worked globally in research and development. He researched innovative materials for construction. Glass as a load-bearing element in architecture. Optimized carbon structures for solar-powered aircraft. Innovated facade systems for skyscrapers worldwide. And then he realized something unexpected. “Then I realized that these same principles could be applied to create the perfect outdoor kitchen. A slightly different project, but with the same innovation and creativity.” The other spent his entire life listening to other people's success stories — and remembering how they came about. Kristian Korunić spent years in business consulting. He followed some of the most successful Croatian entrepreneurial stories, from their first, uncertain steps to the moment they became recognized and started shipping their products worldwide. All those stories, all that knowledge, he built into Evoluta from day one. An engineer who sees material where others see a limit. And an entrepreneur who knows how to build a brand from an idea. When these two worlds merge, something is created that neither could achieve alone.

From slab to kitchen

They started modestly — with concrete slabs for restaurants and cafes. Danijel was already developing the material that would become the heart of everything: EvolutaCONCRETE®, their own glass-fiber reinforced concrete, five times stronger than ordinary concrete, yet only 2.5 centimeters thin.

And then came the moment that changed everything. They stumbled upon an outdoor kitchen and had a simple thought: if we cut a hole in a tabletop and install a sink, we get a kitchen. In November 2022, they quickly made the first prototype for a fair. At that same fair, they won first prize for design. It was confirmation that they were on the right track. The very next year, production of outdoor kitchens began. New awards followed — three design awards in three years — and their first appearance at Salone del Mobile in Milan, the world's largest design fair.

“Everyone found it funny”

“Four years ago, when we made the first prototype of an outdoor kitchen, I said that in five years we would be making the most beautiful outdoor kitchens in the world. Everyone found that funny then — and rightly so.” Kristian is not afraid of things others call impossible. On the contrary — that's precisely what attracts him. And what once sounded like a joke is now measured in awards and the Milan fair.

We don't sell kitchens

If you ask the two of them what they actually do, they won't talk about concrete and dimensions. Istria is the heart of the Mediterranean — a place where outdoor spaces are used not just for cooking, but for celebration. Good company, good wine, good food. Moments that aren't planned, but simply happen. Evoluta transforms that way of life into a durable material and sends it all over Europe. “We don't sell kitchens. We create spaces that celebrate the Istrian way of life — where good company, good wine, and good food aren't planned, but simply happen. You can't put that feeling in a suitcase, but you can cast it in concrete. And that's exactly what we export all over Europe.” That's Evoluta. Two friends, one park, one crazy idea — and a material that only gains character with age. Made in Istria.
